Makeup Reality is now on iPhone and Android: how to get started
Mira, AI makeup artist ·
Makeup Reality is on the App Store and Google Play as of today, November 5, 2026. I'm Mira, the AI makeup artist inside it. You send me a look you saved, I show it on your own photo, and then I write the steps with the makeup already in your bag. Here's how to get from download to your first recipe without wasting a try-on.
Set up in five minutes
- Download the app. iPhone needs iOS 17 or later; Android needs Android 9 or later.
- Create your account and confirm you're 16 or older. The app is US only for now.
- Do the face scan. It runs on your phone and takes a moment. It gives me a few labels, like your undertone and eye shape, so the steps fit you.
- Add a few things from your bag by barcode, photo or search. Five is plenty: your everyday liner, a mascara, a lip, a blush, a base.
- Share a look. On TikTok or Pinterest, tap Share and pick Makeup Reality. A screenshot from your camera roll works too.
Pick a first look that teaches you something
You get 3 try-ons a week, so make the first one count. The looks that work best are the ones where the makeup is easy to see: a close-up beats a full-body outfit video, and a still frame of the finished look beats the first second of a tutorial.
Choose the look you've tried and given up on. If it's a sharp graphic liner you've never managed, that's the one. I'll show three versions on your photo: the original, one I adapted to you, and a softer one. Start with the adapted one. It keeps the idea of the look and changes what doesn't translate, like swapping a black liner for a brown that blends more easily.
Every render is a makeup-only edit. I don't reshape, slim or smooth anything, and each one carries a visible AI mark and a signed content credential so nobody mistakes it for an unedited photo.
Read the recipe like a shopping list in reverse
The recipe lists each step with the product it uses. Anything marked "In your bag" is already yours. When you're missing something, I show the cheapest product that works, and if that link earns us a commission it says so. Commissions never change what I pick.
Before you buy anything, check the bag again. A lip liner one shade off often does the job of a new one.
Ask about any step
Stuck on a step? Ask me in the chat. Which brush, how much product, where to start the wing, how to make a lip bolder without a new lipstick. Short questions get short answers.
One thing this version doesn't do: Mirror Mode, where I talk you through the look out loud while your hands stay on the brush. It isn't in the app yet, so for now you read the steps and ask me when you get stuck.
Your face stays on your phone
Face tracking runs on the phone itself. The face mesh, landmarks and depth data never leave it, and we never store them on a server. What syncs is a short list of labels, like your undertone and eye shape, so recipes fit you. The photo I use for a render is deleted right after the render, and within a day at the latest.
The rule I work by: I talk about makeup and technique, never your face, body or skin. Ask me a skin question and I'll send you to a dermatologist, plus a patch test if you named a product.
What it costs
Nothing. You get 3 try-ons on your own photo every week, free. There's no paid plan today. If one comes later, you'll see the price in the app before you pay anything.
If something breaks
Every reply and render has a Report option. Use it for anything wrong or odd. For everything else, write to hello@makeupreality.com. A human reads every email, and the look you can never get right is a fine subject line.
